The 2A Midwest Regional was in Monroe on Saturday and Ashe County had several athletes participating in the event.
On the field, Paige Spell placed fourth in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 7.75 inches. Spell also took second in the high jump, clearing four feet, 10 inches.
In the men’s long jump, Jacob Blevins was ninth overall, leaping 20 feet, one inch. Maison McNeill placed 11th in the triple jump and finished in a tie for 13th in the high jump with teammate Sam Hudler.
In the mile run, Margot Mattix finished seventh in a time of 6:11 and was sixth in the two-miler in 13:57.
For the men, their track results started with a third place finish in the 4x800 relay. Gareth Berry, Andrew Tedder, R.J. Burke and Evan Owen finished the race in 8:46.
Blevins placed fourth in the men’s 110-meter hurdles in 15.6 seconds.
In the 4x200 relay, Ashe’s team of Ronald Goodlander, Maison McNeill, Zach Outen and Hunter Argetsinger finished in fifth place in 1:35. That same team placed 12th in the 4x100.
Outen had a great performance in the 300-meter hurdles, taking third place in 43 seconds.
In the longer distance events, Berry was seventh in the mile run and Tedder was fourth in the two-mile event.
