Ashe County High School was represented by eight track athletes in six different events at the 2A State Championship Track Meet in Greensboro on Saturday.

Junior Paige Spell placed seventh in the high jump, clearing four feet, nine inches. Spell also competed in the triple jump and finished 16th overall, leaping 30 feet, 9.75 inches.

Andrew Tedder grabbed 12th place in the two-mile run, crossing the finish line in 10:37.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Jacob Blevins finished ninth in preliminaries, just missing a spot in the top eight that would run for the championship. Blevins crossed the line in 15.87 seconds, just two one-hundredths of a second behind eighth place Quadtavious Lawrence.

Ashe also had a runner in the 300-meter hurdles. Zach Outen was 15th overall in 43.04 seconds.

The final event that had participants from ACHS was the men’s 4x800 race. The team of Tedder, R.J burke, Evan Owen and Gareth Berry finished 14th in 8:36.
