Children of all ages will take part in the High Country Kids Triathlon in Boone this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Events start out with a swim in the county pool, followed by a bike ride before a run to end the event.

The event is broken up into three different age groups.

Kids age eight and under will swim 50 meters, ride a bike for one mile and run for half of a mile. Children ages nine through 12 will swim 100 meters, ride a bike for three miles and run for one mile. The final age group is 13 through 18 and those young triathletes will swim 200 meters, bike four miles and run for a mile and a half. Helmets are required for the bike portion of the races.

Awards and door prizes will be handed out and refreshments will be available.

Registration for the triathlon is $30. Kids can pre-register or register on the day of the race. For those that chose to register on the day of the event, please arrive early to complete the proper forms.
