Letter to the Editor: Time to get things back on track

This county has changed so much in the last 40 years. We have elected officials who are NOT even native of the county who have come here to change the way a normal native would think and or live. We have tourists who come here and spend their money and that is great! However, the sitting county commissioners do NOT have the best interest in mind for the local people of the county.

We need factories and we need jobs to keep our native families here after college or high school. Big Money has become the big prize here in the county for those in charge. It is high time that we get our industrialization back in the county and rid the county of those commissioners in the seats of those not from the county. They know who they are and I need not mention them.

I for one am a native of the county and the county is being looked at by outside agencies because the people in charge could not organize a one horse race. I plan to file for a county commissioner seat for the next election and I need like minded NATIVE people to stand with me and make Ashe County proud of the products it can produce through new real business opportunities and to respect the heritage of our grandparents and great grandparents who brought us up on hard work and promise to help a fellow neighbor. I need four other people to run with me to unseat the current debacle we now have in our commissioners office. A law needs to be passed that if you are not a native of Ashe County, you should not hold any elected office in the county of Ashe.

I am a 1985 graduate of Ashe Central High School, a retired United States Marine Sergeant Major/E9, and I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Management from Columbia Southern University of Orange Beach, AL. An astute professional with a keen sense of wanting what is best for native Ashe County folks. We have a proud group of native folks here in the county and we need to put our foot down now and say, NO MORE!!!!!!!! When we start holding the elected officials accountable, things will change for the better for ALL native county folks.
