Clark is a 20-year veteran of the news business starting his career in Cashiers at the Cashiers Crossroads Chronicle in Jackson County, N.C. He also served as a general assignment reporter at the Transylvania Times in Brevard and as the editor of the Chowan Herald in Edenton, N.C., his hometown, and the Milford Beacon in Milford, Del. He also served as the publisher of the Standard Laconic in Greene County, N.C. He graduated from Western Carolina University with B.A. in English. Cliff is married to Martha, the principal of Valle Crucis Elementary School, and they have two teenage daughters, Maggie and Liz.

Lightfoot moved to Ashe County from Louisville, Ky., where he graduated from University of Louisville with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. He worked as a metal fabricator and mechanical designer for 16 years before taking a staff writer position at the Jefferson Post in November 2012. He has a daughter attending Berea College in Berea, Ky., and a son attending Ashe County High School. Lightfoot is a resident of Lansing.

Howell was born and raised in Ashe County. He is a 2008 graduate from Ashe County High School and earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Appalachian State University in 2012. He has been employed with the Jefferson Post for seven months as a staff writer.

Ham was born in Boone and has lived in Ashe County his entire life. He graduated from Ashe County High School in 2005 and from Appalachian State University in May of 2009 with a B.S. degree in Communications with a concentration in Electronic Media/Broadcasting. He has been the sports editor at the Jefferson Post since October of 2009.

Laws was born and raised in Ashe County. She is a 1987 graduate from Ashe Central High School and in 1988 graduated from Wilkes Community College with an Associates Degree in Medical Office Assistant. She worked in the medical field for 10 years before starting her career at the Jefferson Post. She has been employeed with the Jefferson Post for 14 years and works with our parent company selling at other property locations. Teresa and her husband Gary have one son Alex, who is a sophmore at Ashe County High School. They reside in the Laurel Springs Community.

John Sears is a 30-year marketing and sales specialist in heavy industry, high tech and financial products. Born in North Carolina into a career U.S. Marine Corps family, Sears also served with the Marines in North Africa, Cyprus, and the Middle East. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in Economics from Lafayette College in 1980, and did MBA work in Finance at the University of Chicago. John and his wife Gabriele have one son, Domenic, and they reside in the Fleetwood community.
