Ashe County Middle School Principal Bobby Ashley resigned as school principal this week to accept a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in Raleigh.
Ashley distributed a letter to parents and students of ACMS informing them of his resignation, which will take place Dec. 1.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to have served in the position of instructional leader at ACMS,” Ashley wrote in the release. “I feel assured that I have worked with the best students, parents, and staff in the state. Learning with this staff, working with the students of this school, and partnering with parents and the community of Ashe County has taught me what an exceptional school exemplifies.”
He continued: “Growing up in Ashe County and receiving the education from the teachers here was a life-changing experience. Giving back to the community and county that gave me so much throughout my life has been an honor and true pleasure.”
Ashe County Schools Superintendent Travis Reeves is currently in the process of searching for Ashley’s replacement. The school system plans to have the school’s next principal at the school to assist the staff with the transition as soon as next week.
