The Ashe County Middle School football team remained undefeated with its 51-28 win over Elkin last week.

After Kendall Richardson blocked an Elkin punt, the Bulldogs capitalized quickly. Colin Ellis tossed passes to Maison McNeill and Coco Clay to bring the Bulldogs deep into Elkin territory. McNiell finished the scoring drive with a 10-yard touchdown with 6:26 remaining in the first quarter. Louis Ramos converted the extra point, giving the Bulldogs a 7-0 advantage.

Elkin attempted to fake a punt on its next series, which ended in a 10-yard loss and a big play from Hunter Argetsinger, giving the Bulldogs the ball at the Elkin 30-yard-line. The Bulldogs scored yet again, this time a 20-yard TD run from Josh Hamilton. The extra point was good, and ACMS was up 14-0 after the first quarter.

The Bulldogs continued to pull away in the second quarter. The Bulldogs made another big time special teams play, this time with Argetsinger blocking another Elkin punt. However, Ashe could not score on this one as the Bulldogs eventually fumbled, giving the ball back to the Elks. The ACMS defense stepped up after a turnover by the offense to force a turnover of its own. McNiell picked off an errant Elkin pass and returned it for a touchdown. The extra point was no good, but Ashe was out to a quick 20-0 lead with 7:16 left in the first half.

ACMS got its final points of the half off of another Elkin turnover. Garrett Miller sacked the Elkin QB and forced a fumble, recovered by the Bulldog defense. Alex Kissinger than reeled off a 22 yard run to bring the Bulldogs into scoring territory. Pierce Cox capped off the drive with a 25-yard TD pass to Dante Shuler. The extra point was good, and Ashe took a 27-0 lead into the halftime break.

Early in the third quarter, the Bulldogs were at it again. After a 73-yard touchdown run was called back on a penalty, Ashe began driving down the field more methodically. Kissinger broke off a 39-yard touchdown with 7:33 left in the third. No extra point would be attempted due to the mercy rule, but nonetheless, Ashe was up 33-0.

After that score, several of the backups and younger players got to see plenty of playing time for the Bulldogs. The Elks finally scored its first points of the game on a 46-yard touchdown run. Ashe answered back with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Alex Richardson to Garrett Miller to put Ashe in front 39-8. The Elks scored again in the third on a 70-yard reverse play to make the score 39-14 entering the fourth and final quarter.

The Bulldogs got its final points of the game from a Cox TD run with 8:33 left and a touchdown run from Judd Price with 5:37 left in the game.
