Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Roten and the Rev. Warner Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery with military rites.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 6, at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Schurter was born in Delaware County, Pa., on Sept. 9, 1943 to the late Harry and Dorothy Wynn Schurter. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He was an Am Tracker. He also was a member of the local chapter of the DAV. He was a Truck Driver for 48 years and worked for Vannoy & Sons Construction for 21 years. Don enjoyed watch the Atlanta Braves and wrestling on TV. He also worked in wood working.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry (Butch) Schurter, Jr.
Mr. Schurter is survived by his wife, Carolyn Johnson Schurter; two daughters, Tammy Roark and husband, Ronnie, of Creston and Caroline Osborne and fiancé, Stanley Parker, Jr. of Stony Point; a son, Dennis Osborne and wife, Denise, of Hickory; three brothers, Charles Schurter and Bill Schurter, both of Pennsylvania, and Howard Schurter of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Dezarae, Danielle, Ryan, Jasmine, Gracie, Tristan and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.
