Lady Huskies’ head coach Laura Foster coached the West All-Stars to a victory in the East-West All-Star game held Monday in Greensboro.
“I am very humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to coach in such a prestigious event. It was an experience of a lifetime,” said Coach Foster.
The West All-Stars defeated the East All-Stars by a final score of 82-65.
Paige Love of Wilkes Central led the West squad with 15 points, followed by Tori Cook (West Forsyth) with 11, Jordan Hiatt (Mount Airy) with 10, Ashton Fleming (R.J. Reynolds) with 10, and Morgan Midkiff (North Surry) with eight. Lindsay Simpson (Franklin) and Zena Lovette (Southwest Guilford) each added eight points, Sharee’ Boyd (Hopewell) finished with six, Jessica Pone (Southwest Guilford) scored four points and Khadijah Joyner (Forestview) finished up the West scoring with two points.
Love ended up being named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
“It was very special that Paige Love from Wilkes Central, a team in our conference, was selected as MVP,” added Foster.
Foster really enjoyed the coaching experience, from the game itself all the way down to getting to know her assistant coaches and the players.
“I made a great friend in my assistant coach, Terry Allmon. Coach Allmon is a class act. We had a great time coaching together,” said Foster.
“They were a great group of girls that I enjoyed coaching. They represented their schools and communities on and off the floor.”
