Both Husky JV teams got the evening started off the right way with two victories over the West Wilkes Blackhawks.

The Lady Huskies played tough defense all night long, including holding the Lady Blackhawks to just 7 points in the first half, and 18 points for the entire game.

On offense, Ashe played a well-balanced game, getting points from nine different players. Sophomore MaKayla Spencer led the way for Ashe with 8 points, followed closely by fellow sophomores Sierra Wilson and Tiffany Cozart with 6 points each. Haley Maloney scored 3 points, while Madison Little, Olivia Thore, Kayla Spears, and Chelsea Eller each had a basket, and Mikayla Shatley hit a free throw in the 32-18 victory.

The boys’ game was a mismatch from the start as Ashe put West Wilkes in an early hole that the Blackhawks could never climb out of.

Ashe had a 25-12 lead at halftime led by sophomore Sam Gammons who had 15 points in the first 16 minutes of the game.

The Huskies kept the pressure on in the second half quickly expanding their lead. Gammons finished the game with 27 points, pushing the Huskies to a 55-28 win.
