The varsity soccer team had a pivotal match coming up with Forbush, but first had to take care of business against North Wilkes last Friday. Ashe did just that as they won for the eighth consecutive time beating North Wilkes 3-0.

MacKenzie Domske scored two goals for Ashe while her sister Aspen accounted for the other score by the Huskies.

Goalie Chrissy Simmons was an important factor to this contest for Ashe as she made several crucial stops on defense, including successfully defending a penalty kick to preserve the shutout victory.

On Tuesday, the matchup that had been anticipated for weeks was finally coming to fruition as Ashe was set to host the Forbush Falcons, who were putting its undefeated Mountain Valley Conference record on the line.

The Falcons scored first, getting a goal just two minutes into the contest. Ashe would answer back with a goal in the 33rd minute when Aspen Domske connected from deep outside the box that sailed just over the goalie’s head to tie the game at 1.

The score would remain the same until the 61st minute when Forbush capitalized off of a corner kick with a header past Simmons in net to put the Falcons up 2-1. Just three minutes later, the Falcons would add yet another goal to seal the victory and remain undefeated in conference action.

Ashe will hope to bounce back when they host West Wilkes Friday night.
