Mr. Miller was born June 14, 1921 in Ashe County to Clarence and Carrie Woodie Miller. He was a truck driver for Holly Farms and a member of Goshen Baptist Church. Mr. Miller was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Milcen Worley Miller, and a son, Gurney Len Miller, who died in 1968 in Vietnam while serving his country.
Surviving are two sons, Gordon Craig Miller and wife, JoAnn, Ronald Miller and wife, Cindi, all of Wilkesboro; four daughters, Arlena Linda Jones of Millers Creek, Glenna Dale Miller of Kernersville, Sandra Howell of Boomer, Maureen Byers and husband, Johnny, of Millers Creek; one brother, Parnell Miller of Millers Creek; two sisters, Daisy Pearl Wyatt of Winston-Salem, Millie Rose Carlton of North Wilkesboro; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Goshen Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Millsaps and the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30. Burial with military rites by VFW Post 1142 will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday night. Flowers will be accepted.
