Mr. Herman Howard Miller of Lansing died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was 70.

Mr. Miller was born on May 17, 1942, in Ashe County to Gordon Wiley and Verna Wingler Miller.

He worked at Sprague and United Chemicon for over 45 years. He was faithful to attend church as long as his health allowed. Mr. Miller loved to watch the Dodgers play baseball.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and two sisters.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Dorsey Shepherd Miller; one daughter, Tammy Hardin of Jefferson; one stepson Jeff Blevins of Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Twilla Phipps of Granite Falls and Jennifer Gambill of Troutman; three sisters, Nellie Dixon of Laurel Springs, Myrtle Stanley of Hayes and Reecie Roten of Wilkesboro; three brothers, Russell Miller of Oklahoma, Arvil Miller of Honaker, Va., Donald Miller of West Jefferson, and Bronard Miller of Laurel Springs; one grandchild, Heather Lynn Hardin; five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill Miller, Pastor Sonny Thomas. Burial followed in Glendale Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at Badger Funeral Home.
