Mrs. Geneva Davis Absher of West Jefferson died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. She was 88.

Mrs. Absher was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Ashe County to the late Calvin Newton Davis and Laura Cox Davis.

Mrs. Absher worked as a machine operator at Leviton Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Absher was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Absher; her grandson, Joseph Matthew Barry; and nine brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Absher is survived by a daughter, Donna Lynn Garris of Darlington, S.C.; a grandson, Anthony Ray Barry; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
