Open Horse Show planned Saturday

Saddle up for the annual 4-H Open Horse Show Saturday, Aug. 25 to the Ag Expo Center on NC 163 in West Jefferson.

Sponsored by NC Cooperative Extension, Ashe County Center, and the Ashe County Friends of Agriculture, the show will offer classes and competition for youth and adults. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. followed by the show at 11 a.m.

Entry fees are $5 for all youth classes, $8 for non-jackpot adult classes, and $10 with a 40/20/10 split for adult jackpot classes. All proceeds go to Ashe Friends of Agriculture, Ag Expo Center.

Classes for youth and adults include: western and English pleasure, egg & spoon, go as you please, dollar race, barrel race, pole bending, flag race, potato race and Texas barrel race. There will also be a costume class.

Helmets are required for youth under age 18. Negative Coggins required.
