Summer vacation for students comes to an end on Tuesday, Aug. 7 with the 2012-2013 school year getting underway.

New teacher orientation began last week, as well as work days to get things ready for when the students return.

Bell schedules are different at each school this year.

For students at Westwood Elementary and Mountain View Elementary, the day will begin at 7:50 a.m. and will conclude at 2:35 p.m.

Blue Ridge Elementary students will report to school by 8 a.m. and will be released at 2:45 p.m.

For Ashe County Middle School students, the day will begin at 8:05 a.m. and will end at 3:05 p.m.

Finally, for those at Ashe County High School, class begins at 8:25 a.m. and will dismiss at 3:25 p.m.

Incoming freshmen, ninth graders, transfer students, and their families are invited to the Ashe County High School auditorium for orientation at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6.

Students will meet for a half hour information session covering several topics, and receive their fall class schedules and have the opportunity to move about the campus locating their classrooms, locker, and meet some of their teachers.

Cadets from the JROTC program will be assisting students and families with finding their way around the school building.

“We hope this will be the start of a great four years at Ashe County High School,” said Ashe County High School Counselor Mike Tasso of the freshmen orientation event.

For more information, please contact school counselor Michael Tasso at michael.tasso@ashe.k12.nc.us, or at 336-846-2400.
