The 2012 Ashe County High School Tennis Camp will start off a month full of summer camps in June, with this camp allowing both kids and adults the chance to improve their tennis skills while having fun.

Tennis camp will be held from June 4 through June 7 at the ACHS tennis courts with two different sessions.

Elementary school and middle school children, from rising third grade through rising eighth grade, will take the court from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day while the older kids as well as adults will play from 6:15 until 8 each evening.

The cost for the elementary session is $35 and the cost for the high school and adult class is $50.

Instruction at the camp will be provided by Lees McRae College tennis head coach Aaron Peterson. Peterson is also the club pro at the Deer Valley Racquet Club. He was a former number one seed at Queens College for all four seasons, and was ranked 34th nationally. He was voted team Most Valuable Player and a team captain during his tenure at Queens.

For more information on this camp, contact varsity tennis coach Larry Dix by calling the high school at 846-2400. Registration forms can be picked up at the high school and returned to Coach Dix via email at larry.dix@ashe.k12.nc.us, returned to former tennis coach Vickie Herman at vherman@skybest.com, or can be turned in on the first day of camp.
