The Lady Husky tennis team hopes to keep an impressive streak of outstanding seasons going as they will open the year on August 13 at home against Alleghany.

For eight of the last nine seasons, the Ashe County women’s tennis team has sent a doubles team to the state tournament, and has won the Mountain Valley Conference doubles championship for seven straight years.

After the season opener on Aug. 13, the team will play the next day at home once again, this time battling Forbush.

The team then has a string of three straight road matches at East Wilkes (Aug. 16), at Wilkes Central (Aug. 20) and at Elkin (Aug. 23).

Ashe wraps up the first month of the season at home against Starmount on Aug. 28 and on the road at West Wilkes on Aug. 30.

September begins with a home match on Tuesday, Sept. 4 against North Wilkes. The team travels to Alleghany on Thursday to wrap up that week of play.

Three of the next four will be at home after the Alleghany match. Ashe hosts Wilkes Central on Sept. 11, and then travels to Forbush on Sept. 13. The Lady Huskies will host East Wilkes on Sept. 18 and will have a week off before hosting Elkin on Sept. 25.

The regular season closes with a match at Starmount (Sept. 27), a home date against West Wilkes (Oct. 2) and the final match at North Wilkes (Oct. 4).

The MVAC Tournament is set to take place Oct. 9-10 at Elkin.

State playoffs will begin with dual team action on Oct. 16 while the individual Regionals will begin Oct. 19 with the state tournament taking place Oct. 26-27.
