Two former Wal-Mart employees are facing felony embezzlement charges following an internal investigation by the corporation which was then handed over to the West Jefferson Police Department.

According to Chief Brian Grogan of the WJPD, 43-year-old Linda B. Pasley of Grassy Creek was charged with 185 felonious counts of embezzlement which is defined by as larceny by an employee. Pasley allegedly began converting coupons for cash for a total of approximately $1,680.

Sheila Main, 37, of Lansing was charged with 88 felonious counts of embezzlement after she allegedly took a total of $650 from a register while working at the super center as a clerk.

Although both women began conducting the illegal transactions during the month of August, authorities do not believe they conspired in the committing the said offenses. Their arrest follows an investigation by Det. Chris Welch.

Pasley was later released under a $7,500 bond and Main was released under a bond of $2,500.

Both women are scheduled to appear in Ashe County District Court on Nov. 5.
