Women’s golf sends four to regionals

The Lady Husky golf team captured second place at the Mountain Valley Conference Championship last Wednesday, and successfully qualified four players for the regional tournament that is set to take place on Monday.

Elkin won the championship with a team score of 260. Ashe was second, finishing with a score of 314. Alleghany finished third (321) followed by Wilkes Central (322) and Forbush (349).

Mary Francis Hall won the tournament with a total score of 76, three shots better than teammate Annika Winebarger. Alleghany’s Katie Tally finished third with a score of 90, followed by Ashe’s Olivia Barr in fourth (99), teammate Taylor Price fifth (104) and Catherine Howell of Wilkes Central sharing fifth place.

Other Ashe scores included Madison Little with 111, Katie Girtman with 116 and Madison Ball with 118.

Barr, Price, Little and Girtman each qualified for the regional tournament. The tournament will be at Pilot Knob Park Golf Course.
