Wilkes Central won all but four matches against the visiting Huskies last week, taking a 60-17 victory in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Andrew Tedder picked up a win for Ashe in the 106-pound division with a 15-9 decision victory over Isaac Catalan.

The Eagles won the next five weight classes. Juan Castro pinned Jacob Weaver in the 113-pound division, Dennis Hernandez pinned Carter Calhoun at 120-pounds and Jacob Royal pinned Bodi Miller at 126. Hank Privette won by forfeit in the 132-pound division, as did Cole Susi at 138.

Ashe’s Michael Elliott continued his unbeaten streak with an 8-2 decision victory over Parker Ward at 145-pounds.

Central took a pair of victories at 152 and 160-pounds. Dylan Adams pinned Chase Conner and Evan Adams pinned Joshua Hamilton.

The Huskies got back in the win column with a technical fall victory for Lucas Miller over Christopher Ocampo at 170 and a pinfall win for William Miller over Hector Santiago at 182-pounds.

Wilkes Central swept the remaining three weight classes. At 195-pounds, Tyler Wagoner pinned Justin Scarborough. 220-pounder Steve Byers pinned Ashe wrestler Shawn Baker, and Kasain Tillman pinned Jason Baker in the battle of 285-pounders.

The Huskies are now 13-11 overall. Ashe will return to action with a pair of matches on Tuesday, both at home. Ashe will wrestle Starmount at 6 p.m. after the match was snowed out on Friday. Following that match, Ashe will wrestle East Wilkes as scheduled.
