Ashe County captured ninth place at the 1A/2A Central Regional on Monday, but will not send any golfers to the state tournament as the season will come to a close.

“I was really proud of our season and our performance at the regionals,” said head coach Laura Foster.

Salisbury took the regional championship while Elkin finished as runner-up. Mary Francis Hall of Elkin had the highest individual score of any competitor, shooting a 79.

The Lady Huskies had two players just barely miss the cut for the state tournament. Taylor Price finished with a score of 109, just two strokes short of making the tourney. Ashe’s Olivia Barr shot 111, coming just four strokes short. Katie Girtman finished with a score of 119 and Madison Little ended with a score of 131. Barr will be the only returning player next season.

“We will miss our seniors next season, Madison Ball, Katie Girtman, Madison Little and Taylor Price. I appreciate their hard work and dedication to golf,” said Coach Foster.
