Ashe scored two first-half goals, and held the Eagles off of the scoreboard for an entire 80 minutes last Wednesday, beating rival Wilkes Central 2-0.
Jamie Weaver scored in just the third minute of play off of a nice pass from Cesar Ruiz.
Both defenses held strong until the 19th minute of play when Ashe netted its second and final goal, this one coming from senior Sam Bowers.
Goalie Braxton Treadway and the defense in front of him were stellar all evening long, helping Ashe capture its 19th consecutive victory and stay undefeated in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
So far, the Huskies have scored 109 this season, setting a new school record, and have held its opponents to just 20 scores this year in 19 games. The only time Ashe has surrendered more than two goals in a game was the thrilling 4-3 win over Forbush in mid-September.
Ashe remained in the number two spot in the 2A poll, only behind Charles D. Owen High School. Owen is in the middle of an impressive winning streak as well. The Warhorses have won 13 games in a row, and its only loss of the season came against 3A private school Christ School of Asheville. Owen beat them 1-0 in a rematch.
In junior varsity action, Ashe and Wilkes Central played to a 3-3 tie. Kendall Wagner scored in the last minute of the game for Ashe to tie the score.
