Ashe and West Wilkes played to a tie at halftime, but the Huskies exploded for five second-half goals to give Ashe a 7-2 victoryover the Blackhawks.

Anthony Federico wasted no time putting Ashe on the board with a goal in the second minute of play off of a pass from Jamie Weaver. Ashe jumped in front 2-0 with a goal from Trent Pruitt in the 13th minute.

The Blackhawks answered back with a nice goal from Derick Zamora, assisted by Leonel Hernandez in the 22nd minute. Zamora did not stop there. He netted the tying goal just two minutes later off of a pass from Pablo Limon.

As the second half started, the Husky offense came to life in a big way. Frank Ledezma broke the tie in the 47th minute with his first goal of the contest. The Huskies then reeled off three straight goals in a little over four minutes. Cesar Ruiz started the scoring in the 54th minute, followed by Ledezma’s second goal in the 56th minute and then Weaver got his first goal of the match in the 57th minute. Miguel Ramos put up the final Ashe tally in the 77th minute of action.

This was the 16th consecutive win for Ashe as the team now sits at 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. The Huskies moved up one spot in the most recent 2A soccer poll, sitting at number three overall, one position ahead of Forbush. Those two teams have one more head-to-head matchup this season in what will most likely determine the MVAC Championship.

"Unfair competition" in N.C. car market

An N.C. Senate bill would prohibit direct marketing to N.C. motorists by Tesla and companies like it. Is this a sound policy?
