High Country Audubon Society (HCAS) will hold their annual meeting at the Elk Valley Preserve and Field Station in Banner Elk on Tuesday, July 17. They will begin with a bird walk at 5 p.m., and plan to continue the tradition of enjoying a potluck dinner together. Remember to bring your own plate, cups and utensils. Membership dues can be paid at the meeting. New members are invited to attend and help begin a new year. More information about the meeting including directions to Elk Valley Preserve and Field Station (near Lees-McRae College) can be found in the newsletter on www.highcountryaudubon.org. HCAS covers Avery, Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga, and Wilkes counties and is designed to encourage beginning birders and experts alike to engage in conservation, education, and research for the benefit of the birds of western North Carolina.
