The men’s golf team wrapped up the year with a fifth place finish in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Championship match last week.
East Wilkes took the conference title with a team score of 338 in 18 holes. Forbush finished two shots back in second place and Elkin was third with a team score of 345. Starmount was fourth, followed by Ashe (348), West Wilkes (355), Wilkes Central (361), North Wilkes (398) and Alleghany (415).
Tucker Goodman had the best score for Ashe with an 82. Zach Lawrence shot an 85 and Abel Warner finished the match with a score of 88. Jacob Worley shot a 95, Adam Graybeal finished with 96 and Nathan Jolly finished with 99.
By finishing in the top 12, Goodman made the MVAC All-Conference team. Lawrence and Warner were named to the honorable mention list by finishing in the top 18.
Goodman and Lawrence also qualified for the 2A regional tournament in Lexington.
