On Senior Night, it was fitting that the Lady Huskies got six of its nine goals from senior players on the way to a 9-0 win over visiting North Wilkes.
Destiny Shepherd, Aspen Domske, Haley Maloney, Amanda Osborne, Madison Little, Brittany Krips, and Virginia Johnson were honored before the game as the seven seniors on this year’s team.
Shepherd started the scoring in the ninth minute with a goal. Domske followed that up with her first goal of the night in the 12th minute.
Maloney and Osborne each got into the scorebook with goals in the 15th and 27th minutes.
The final Ashe goal of the first half came in the 31st minute when Bekah Bowers connected on a shot inside the box to put the Lady Huskies in front, 5-0 at the halftime break.
Ashe was held off the scoreboard in the second half until the 58th minute when Taylor May booted a shot into the back of the net to extend the lead to 6-0.
In the 64th minute, Chrissy Simmons netted her only goal of the contest. After that, Domske added the final two tallies, a penalty kick goal in the 70th minute, and another goal in the 75th minute to cap off the mercy rule victory.
The Lady Huskies are now 12-3-1 overall and 12-2 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
Ashe will wrap up the regular season with a pair of games this week. Ashe was at home against West Wilkes on Monday and will travel to Wilkes Central on Thursday.
