Two charged with larceny after cutting locks off storage buildings

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals in connection with a series of breaking and enterings and larcenies that occurred at Safe Haven Mini Storage in Fleetwood.

Logan Trivette, 18, of Fleetwood was charged with four counts of felony breaking and entering and three counts of larceny after breaking and entering.

Joseph Keith Dillard of West Jefferson was charged with felony possession of stolen goods/property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Feb. 25, deputies responded to a call at Safe Haven Mini Storage located on U.S. 221 S. A report was made in reference to cut locks on multiple storage units. After the initial investigation, items found to be missing were 10 cases (10,000 rounds) of .357 handgun ammunition, two cases ( 1,000 rounds) of rifle .223 ammunition, four subwoofers with enclosures, one Pioneer car amplifier, two large tool boxes with assorted tools and a large assortment of loose ammunition.

Detectives were assigned to the case and quickly recovered the majority of the stolen property. Several interviews were conducted that led to the arrest of two individuals.

Detective Anders said that 90 percent of the stolen items have been recovered.

Crime Stoppers pays cash for information leading to the arrest of individuals connected to certain crimes.
