Voters crowded the courthouse for early voting last week, which ended at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. As of 1 p.m., 5,221 people had taken advantage of early voting in Ashe County, and there was still a line of people stretching out the doors of the board of elections office. That total is nearly 28 percent of the 19,010 registered voters in Ashe County.

This is the day. For those who have yet to cast a ballot for the county, state and national candidates for political office, there is no tomorrow.

However, according to Ashe County Board of Election officials, many voters didn’t wait for Election Day. As many as 5,221 people took advantage of early voting in Ashe County, which ended at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. That total is nearly 28 percent of the 19,010 registered voters in Ashe County, said Christine Arvidson, an official with the Ashe County Board of Elections.

If you haven’t voted yet and are planning to, these are the candidates to choose from when you inspect your ballot:
