Former Ashe resident MacKenzie Krips is seeking financial support to take her mission work in Acquire the Fire across the U.S. and Canada.
Krips grew up with her family in Lansing. She attended Blue Ridge Elementary School and in spring 2011 graduated from Ashe County School of Cosmetic Arts. She was active in the Missoula Children’s theater for several years.
Now 20 years old, Krips is living in Garden Valley, Texas, where she is preparing to travel with Acquire the Fire (ATF) for the next nine months. ATF is 27 hours of music, teaching and drama that will make you laugh, make you cry, and change the way you see yourself.
Young people are the future. ATF speaks to them right where they are, giving them the tools to overcome addictions, self-image issues, a history of abuse, and ultimately help them to answer the questions each person asks:
• “Why am I here?”
• “What is my purpose in life?”
• “Does anybody care?”
This year’s ATF theme is “Restless Pursuit” and focuses on God’s pursuit to show His love.
After a one-year internship with Teen Mania Ministries, Krips was chosen for the drama team and will travel the United States and Canada performing in 22 cities.
Ashe County has sent Krips on mission trips to Romania and Panama and says she would not be where she is today without the support of the people of Ashe County.
“Because people have been so generous in supporting me, I have the opportunity to speak to thousands of teens and young people who otherwise may not know of His truly relentless love,” Krips said. “I would never be where I am without it.”
Krips needs the support of six to eight people who could donate $20 to $50 per month to help keep her on the tour.
