Ashe County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday that a break-in occurred at a residence on NC194S in the Todd community.
Stolen items included household furniture, an old tank, extension ladders, a wood stove, tools, and a lawnmower.
David Arlin Miller, 39, of Greertown Road in Lansing, was arrested for breaking, entering, and larceny on Sept. 1. Miller is currently in the Ashe County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond. His court date is set for Oct. 4.
Joseph Dean Wilcox, 45, of Whenlin Ridge Road in Lansing, was also arrested for breaking, entering, and larceny on Sept. 1. Wilcox made a $25,000 unsecured bond set by Magistrate Jackie Johnson and was released.
According to the sheriff’s office, only a small amount of property has been recovered in the Todd theft. It is believed that most of the property was transported to Mountain City, Tenn., and sold.
Ashe County Sheriff’s Office also reported that a 2000 Saturn had been stolen from the Beaver Creek area of West Jefferson. The vehicle was not recovered because it was allegedly taken to Virginia and sold for scrap parts.
Last week’s investigation by the sheriff’s office into the car theft led to the arrest of Chad Michael Johnson, 31, of Elkin, formerly of Ashe County. Johnson has been charged with auto larceny.
ACSO reported that Johnson was arrested by the Elkin Police Department and is bonded in Surry County. His court date is set for Oct. 4.
