Watauga scored two first half goals and added a third in the second half to shut out the Lady Huskies, 3-0.
Hannah Younger put Watauga on the board in just the second minute of play getting a shot by Ashe goalkeeper Chrissy Simmons.
Younger scored once again in the 25th minute to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0 at the halftime break.
Ashe struggled through much of the first half to get any scoring chances, but opened the second half with a pair of opportunities to get a goal. In the 44th minute, Ashe drew a foul and got a free kick to the right of the net. The kick sailed wide, but was knocked out for an Ashe corner kick. The ensuing corner kick was cleared away from the net.
Watauga countered off of that corner kick and ended up adding on a third goal against a scrambling Ashe defense. Sierra Hicks netted the third goal in the 47th minute.
After that, the Pioneer defense settled in and kept Ashe away from the target. Aspen Domske had a shot late in the second half that was stopped and Natalie Harless had a good shot at a corner kick, but neither scoring chances resulted in a goal.
On Thursday, Ashe bounced back from this loss to take down Elkin by a 4-1 score. Domske scored all four goals and Valerie Keys returned from injury to assist on three of those goals.
Ashe now sits at 11-3-1 overall and 11-2 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
Up next, Ashe will host North Wilkes on Tuesday.
