There’s always little bit of excitement when someone first tries on a tuxedo. Sometimes people feel a little intimidated by the clothing. It can be uncomfortable for men of all ages to see themselves in unfamiliar finery.
Still, the tuxedo soon has an effect on the man wearing it. As he begins to relax and feel more comfortable, he begins to enjoy the occasion and the attention that a good fitting tuxedo attracts.
That’s where Angelia Ray Cambre, the “Tux Lady,” comes in. Her job is to make sure her customers are happy and comfortable while looking their best. Over the years, Cambre has dressed hundreds of grooms, groomsmen, fathers and Prom Goers.
“My number one goal is to help you find the look that you desire for your special day to make you look and feel incredibly handsome,” said Cambre. “In each case, the most important element of formal wear is the customer.”
After a five-year hiatus from the formal dress world, Cambre has decided to make her return with her new business called “The Tux Lady.”
Cambre has provided tuxedos and wedding planning in Ashe County since 1997, when she was located in Jefferson. Through the years, she has owned and operated Uptown Threads and Magnolia in downtown West Jefferson. Including her time in Ashe county, Cambre has over 20 years experience in the tuxedo and wedding industry.
“I remember that my first tuxedo customer at my Jefferson location behind Sugar and Spice, was Michael Poe. At the time, he was a student at Northwest High School,” said Cambre. “Michael returned every year for prom and later for his wedding. I was to have many customers like that.”
Unlike her previous businesses, The Tux Lady is a business Cambre plans to operate from home. ” Since my children are older now and are schooled at home, having the business here made the the most sense. It is like having your cake and eating it too,” said Cambre.
“Having a lower overhead, I am able to keep my prices down $20-$30 dollars which is a great help to the Tuxedo wearer,” said Cambre.
Cambre’s suit and tux rentals start at $49.99 and free alterations are available. Select group of ring bearers tuxedos are half price.
“It is very exciting to be back and I am delighted to be working with wedding couples and young prom goers again. This is a happy place to be,”said Cambre.
