Four named to tennis all-conference team

Four Lady Husky tennis players were chosen to the 2012 Mountain Valley Athletic Conference All-Conference team, as well as two more chosen to the honorable mention list.

Haley Maloney, Anna Wooten, Maggie Witherspoon and Hallie Brown were members of the all-conference team while Hayley Ragland and Mary Austin-Tugman captured spots on the honorable mention squad.

Wooten and Maloney were the MVAC Champions in the doubles tournament, and finished the season with a 23-2 record after falling in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. These two ladies also made the All-Region team. Witherspoon and Brown earned their all-conference nod after reaching the semifinals of the MVAC Tournament and qualifying for the 2A Midwest Regional.

East Wilkes took home the 2012 conference championship, finishing 16-0. Lady Cardinal Kelly Johnson was named MVAC Player of the Year while her coach Aaron Simmons took home MVAC Coach of the Year honors.
