Ashe County softball dropped its conference tournament opener to Forbush, but still qualified for the 2A state playoffs, which will begin this Friday.
Forbush defeated Ashe by a 10-3 score in the first round of the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Falcons had 16 hits to pace the offense, as well as homeruns from Regan Gentry and MaKenzie Dudley.
MaKenzie Wallace had an RBI single for Ashe to get them on the scoreboard.
The other two runs came off the bat of Sloan Elliott as she drove in Samantha Bowlin and Anna Wooten with a double.
Sydney Miller got the win on the mound for Forbush while Brianna McCoy took the loss.
The Lady Huskies will return to the diamond on Friday in the first round of the state tournament against Central Davidson. The Lady Spartans are 12-11 overall and compete in the Central Carolina Conference.
