Freshman Zeb Richardson put up career-high numbers in points and rebounds last week in a game against Guilford rival Greensboro College, then broke that rebounding personal best on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan.
The Quakers went on to win 80-61 over Greensboro, thanks in large part to Richardson’s 16 points and seven rebounds that broke his own person best numbers set just one week prior in a win over Randolph-Macon College.
This win marked the third straight for Guilford over the cross-town rival, and also the 12th win in the last 15 games in the rivalry series.
On Saturday, Guilford lost 63-49 to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins, but Richardson had another terrific game off the Quaker bench.
Richardson tallied 16 points once again, and grabbed nine rebounds. Richardson was 7-14 from the field.
Guilford led the Marlins 24-23 at the half, but turnovers would end up being the huge difference, especially in the second half. The Marlins outscored the Quakers 40-25 in the final 20 minutes of play, and Guilford ended up turning the ball over 23 times during the contest.
The Quakers are now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Richardson and his Guilford teammates will be back in action next Saturday at home against North Carolina Wesleyan.
