The Ashe County tennis team lost its most recent home match last Wednesday, a 9-0 defeat to Wilkes Central.
Ashe had just five players in the match due to the school being on spring break.
This week, Ashe will face host Elkin on Tuesday and travel to North Wilkes on Thursday.
Golf
Ashe’s golf team competed in their first match of the season at Silo Run Golf Course in Boonville on Thursday.
Forbush won the match with a team score of 155, three shots better than second place East Wilkes. Starmount finished third with a score of 165 followed by Elkin and Wilkes Central who both finished in a tie for fourth with a score of 177. Ashe was sixth with a team total of 178. West Wilkes (183), North Wilkes (207) and Alleghany (213) rounded out the scoring from the rest of the conference teams.
Zach Lawrence and Abel Warner each fired the top round of the day for Ashe golfers with an 89. Tucker Goodman shot a 94. Adam Graybeal finished with a score of 102 while Maison McNeill and Jacob Worley each shot 103.
The golf team was back in action on Monday at Stone Mountain Golf Course, hosted by North Wilkes. Ashe then heads to Cederbrook Country Club in Elkin on Thursday for its third match of the young season.
