Aspen Domske tallied three goals and the Lady Husky defense kept Starmount off the scoreboard for almost the entire contest. Ashe bounced back from Monday’s 3-0 loss to Forbush with a big 7-1 victory over the visiting Rams.
Ashe scored first in the ninth minute off of a shot by Alexis Parks.
In the 16th and 17th minutes, Mac Church and Tyler Eller each had good scoring chances but saw their shots get stopped by the goalkeeper.
Domske netted her first goal in the 20th minute to put Ashe in front, 2-0. Domske scored her next two goals just two minutes apart, one in the 37th minute and the next in the 39th minute to close the first half with Ashe in front, 4-0.
Starmount tightened its defense early in the second half, but Ashe would continue to find scoring chances.
Olivia Brettschneider blasted a shot that just missed the net in the 50th minute. Then, Parks tallied her second goal of the game, this one coming in the 55th minute.
Three minutes later, Haley Maloney had a good shot on goal, but it was stopped on a diving play by the goalie.
The Lady Huskies moved ahead 6-0 on a goal from Chrissy Simmons in the 67th minute.
Starmount finally got on the board in the 72nd minute with a long shot that found its way into the net.
The final Ashe tally came in the 79th minute with a goal from Alyssa Peterson to put the finishing touches on Ashe’s eighth win of the season. The team is now 8-2-1 overall and 8-2 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
Ashe will wrap up play this week with a home match against East Wilkes on Friday.
