Elkin did most of its damage on just one swing of the bat in the fifth inning, and were able to hang on for a 4-2 conference victory over the Huskies. The Elks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning when a double from Jamey Cranford scored Seth Haynes. The big momentum swing of the game came in the fifth inning. Husky golfers finish third
The Ashe County golf team picked up its best finish of the year on its home course at Mountain Aire. East Wilkes and Forbush tied for the top spot with a team score of 161. Ashe was third at 174 followed by Elkin in fourth with a score of 178 and a tie for fifth between Starmount and Wilkes Central as both finished at 179.
