Ashe County sent 11 individual athletes and a pair of relay teams to the 2A Midwest Regional track meet at North Stokes High School last weekend. Four men’s tennis players were chosen to the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference All-Conference team. To get a spot on the all-conference team, each player had to make it to the semifinals of the conference tournament, held in Elkin at the end of April. The season came to a close for the men’s tennis team last week at the 2A Midwest Regional. Ashe sent two singles players and one doubles team to the regional tournament, held in Lexington. Lucas Zeller was the lone Husky player to make it out of the first round. Zeller defeated Daniel Dickens of Central Davidson in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Wildlife Resources Commission has postponed two trout stockings scheduled on Monday for the Delayed Harvest sections of the Little River in Alleghany County and Big Horse Creek in Ashe County.
