Ashe County’s junior varsity baseball team ended the year on a high note with a 6-1 victory over West Wilkes on Monday. Joseph Lowder was fantastic on the mound as he allowed just one unearned run on three hits with nine strikeouts to record his sixth win of the season and third win in a row. Aspen Domske’s 100 th career goal was the only goal Ashe would score, but it was enough to hold on for a 1-0 victory over visiting West Wilkes. Domske’s first half tally not only added on to her school record of career goals, but also set a new single-season mark with 46 goals this year. For the fifth straight season, the Ashe County women’s track team captured the Mountain Valley Conference Championship. The men’s and women’s track teams each grabbed first place in a meet held last Wednesday at Ashe County High School. Ashe’s men scored 105 points to take first place, well ahead of second place Wilkes Central (28 points) and third place West Wilkes (four points).
