Ashe golfers take fifth in two tourneys

In a pair of very competitive conference matches, the men’s golf team has finished in fifth place each time on the links.On April 10 at Mountain Aire Golf Course, Alleghany came away with the win. The Trojans shot 164 as a team, good enough for a three-shot victory over Wilkes Central. Elkin took third place with a score of 170. Softball drops two MVAC games

The Lady Husky softball team lost a pair of home games last week, first to West Wilkes and then to Alleghany.West Wilkes 17, Ashe 0Blackhawk ace Courtney Lackey allowed just one hit in four innings and retired nine Ashe batters on strikes to record the win on the mound. Industrial League champs

Submitted photo | Jefferson Post - The annual Industrial League hosted by Ashe County Parks and Recreation came to an end two weeks ago with the Mastercraft team winning the championship. Team members were: Kevin Nichols, Jordan Nichols, Matt Nichols, Daniel Waln, Brandon Lucas, Bradley Lucas, Dustin Hamm, John Spagnolo, Tavin Holman, Tatum Lemly and Tucker Clay. All but two of the team members played at Ashe County High School at some point during their basketball careers.
