North Surry grapplers drop Ashe

WEST JEFFERSON — Ashe County closed out the 2015 year with a home match against North Surry on Wednesday. The Greyhounds scored wins in all but two matches against the Huskies for the 66-12 win.

The Huskies got victories at 138 pounds and 152 pounds.

Harley Miller pinned Blaine Bouldin at 138 pounds and John Reavis pinned Sammy McMillian in the 152-pound division.

106-pounder Reid Walker got North Surry on the board with a pinfall win over Ashe’s Caleb Cooper.

Next up, Quinn Walker won by forfeit at 113 points and Zackery Jones pinned Tate Miller at 120 pounds.

The next two matches also went the Greyhounds’ way. Jacob Cavanaugh won by forfeit at 126 pounds and 132-pounder Kobe Slate pinned Brady Buchanan.

Greyhound grappler Hunter Terry won by forfeit at 145 pounds and Avery Simmons won by forfeit at 170 pounds.

The final four weight classes all went to North Surry. 182-pounder Austin McBride pinned Jake Shepherd and 195-pounder Ryan Mauch pinned Tanner Kilby. Luke Hauser (220) and Jared Tickle (285) both won by forfeit.
