MOUTH OF WILSON, Va. — Oak Hill Academy added two more wins to its already-impressive total in the last week.
The Warriors took on Orangeville Prep in Canada last Thursday as part of the Jordan Brand Invitational in Toronto. Oak Hill came away with a 77-67 victory.
Senior Braxton Key finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way. Lindell Wigginton scored 14 points and collected three steals, Matt Coleman had 11 points and five rebounds and Khadim Sy finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots. Devontae Shuler scored nine, Ty-Shon Alexander added eight and Rodney Miller scored two points in the victory.
On Tuesday night, the Warriors returned home to face Word of God Christian Academy from Raleigh. WOG features a trio of players ranked in the top 16 seniors in North Carolina, according to the Phenom Hoop Report. Rawle Alkins is currently ranked third and has some of the top college programs in the country recruiting him. Jaylen Fornes (14th) has signed with UNC-Wilmington and Jalen Harris (16th) has not made a college choice yet but is also being recruited heavily.
The game remained close throughout with Word of God pulling to within two points at 48-46 with four minutes left in the third. However, the Warriors closed the quarter out strong on a 19-7 run to take a 67-53 lead to the third.
In the fourth quarter, it was all Warriors as they pulled away for a 90-67 victory.
Alexander was the high scorer with 20 points. Coleman added 14 points and a game-high nine assists, Sy finished with 13 points and 12 boards and Wigginton filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
The Warriors will be at home for a pair of games this weekend. Oak Hill will host Covenant Christian from Georgia on Friday and Prominence Academy from Raleigh on Saturday.
Oak Hill now sits at 34-1 overall.
