WEST JEFFERSON — Wilkes Central won all but five matches in last Friday’s meet at Ashe County High School.
At 106 pounds, the Eagles got their first win of the night when Tradin Allen pinned Trent Baker at the 4:37 mark of the match.
The 113-pound match was a double forfeit with neither team having a competitor at that weight class. The next two weight classes were forfeit wins for each team. Wilkes Central’s Nick Hartley got the forfeit win at 120 pounds and Ashe’s Tate Miller was the winner at 126 pounds.
In the 132-pound match, Brady Buchanan scored the second win for the Huskies by pinning Shawn Nickens in 3:25.
Trenton Hunt got a win for the Eagles by pinning Drake Elliott in the 138-pound match with 34 seconds left.
The Huskies got three more wins during the rest of the match. Harley Miller won by forfeit at 145 pounds. 160-pounder John Reavis scored a 9-1 major decision win over Luke Clark and Zach Bare pinned Alex Martinez at the 2:37 mark of the 195-pound match.
The remaining matches all went in Wilkes Central’s favor. 152-pounder Dalton Curry pinned Ashe’s Isaac P. Miller in 1:06. At 170 pounds, Ethan Adams pinned Preston Mash in 28 seconds. 182-pounder Tyler Boles pinned Jake Shepherd in 3:28. The final two matches were forfeit wins for the Eagles. Joseph Rosales won at 220 pounds and Ian Grant won at 285 pounds.
