BANNER ELK — Lees-McRae track and field standout Erin Bingham added another championship to her list of achievements.

Bingham, a former Husky track star, took home the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championship in the 60-meter hurdle event at the conference championship meet held last Sunday in Winston-Salem.

Bingham’s time of 8.81 seconds in the event also qualified her for the national championship meet and set a new school record. She also won her preliminary event to set up her championship-winning run.

Overall, Bingham was one of four Lees-McRae athletes that broke school records and one of three that earned spots on the qualifying list to compete in the NCAA National Indoor Championships in March.

On the men’s side, Cody McNeely won the Men’s 800-meter run in 1.59 and Kendall Isler finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 1.5 inches.

Joining Bingham as a championship winner on the women’s side was Makayla Boswell. Her high jump cleared five feet, five inches to win the title by two inches.
