BANNER ELK — Lees-McRae College senior track athlete Erin Bingham was one of six LMC track standouts named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Southeast Region team.
The all-region teams were announced on Monday afternoon.
Bingham captured the Conference Carolinas championship in the 60-meter hurdles at the indoor track championship.
Joining her on the team were teammates Joshua Cady, Kendall Isler, Haanes Huyck, Christian Lloyd and Mekayla Boswell.
Six is the most indoor track all-region athletes from Lees-McRae since the school had seven all-region performers in 2012.
To be an all-region selection, an athlete must finish in the top five in each individual event or finish in the top three relay finishing spots. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
On the women’s side 493 women captured the honor from 120 different institutions, while a whopping 572 men captured the award from 119 different institutions.
LMC will open the outdoor season March 18 when the team competes in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.
