ELKIN — The losing skid continued for the varsity volleyball team last week with Elkin and North Wilkes picking up conference victories over the Lady Huskies.

On Tuesday, Ashe fell to Elkin by a 3-0 score.

In the first set, Ashe kept pace with the Lady Elks, but fell a bit short in the end by a score of 25-20. The second went Elkin’s way, 25-13 and the third set was a battle until the very end, but Elkin once again made a few extra plays count the most, earning a 29-27 win to take the match.

Ashe played host to North Wilkes on Thursday hoping to get back into the win column. However, the Lady Vikings showed why they are tied for first place in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference with a 3-0 sweep of Ashe County. Set scores were 25-13, 25-17 and 25-13.

Following last week’s pair of matches, Ashe County is now 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the MVAC. The Lady Huskies have lost eight in a row.
