For the fourth time, a select group of citizens will be honored with induction into the Ashe County Sports Hall of Fame, a tradition that started in 2008 and will continue with the 2011 class.

Nominations have begun for this 2011 class as athletes from not only football, basketball, and baseball can be honored for induction, but also those in other sports such as game hunting and fishing, racing and others along those lines.

The Jeffersons Rotary Club will put together a committee of Rotarians and local community members to choose a select group of nominees that will be forever enshrined in the Ashe County Sports HOF.

Nomination forms are available for pick up and drop off at the following businesses: Ashe Chamber of Commerce, Ashe Mountain Times, Jefferson Post, Peoples Rexall Drug Store, Sears, and WKSK. They are also available online at www.jeffersonpost.com and www.580wksk.com

The deadline for nominations for the 2011 HOF class will be February 1. The induction ceremony has been scheduled for April 30 at 6 p.m. at Ashe County High School. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $15 for ages 18 and under.
