The fun takes place Friday, Oct. 12 in downtown West Jefferson beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until around 8 p.m. There are 13 galleries participating in the Crawl, offering a close up look at the wide variety of artwork found in the area. There will be refreshments, music, special activities and much to enjoy as the galleries stay open late for visitors.
The Ashe County Farmers Market on Second Avenue (the Back Street) will be open for its special Friday night event from 5 to 8 p.m. Originally, the last evening market was to be in September, but heavy rains that evening, while much welcomed, put a damper on vendor and customer turnout so it was decided that a “Nite Time” market be added for October. This evening event has primarily highlighted the market’s crafters although all registered vendors are invited to participate. There is no fee to set up. Customers will be treated to many of the handmade and homegrown items that can be found at the Saturday morning market. It’s a great opportunity to get a jump on holiday shopping.
The Farmers Market’s regular season will end with the Saturday, Oct. 27 market. There are Saturday holiday markets scheduled for Nov. 17 and Nov. 24 as well as holiday “greens” markets scheduled for Dec. 1 and Dec. 8.
